Chinabank ups shareholder rewards with P6.7B dividend on strong 2024 earnings

China Banking Corporation, the country’s fourth-largest private universal bank, is reinforcing its commitment to shareholder value with the declaration of ₱6.7 billion in cash dividends for 2025—up 14% from the previous year.

In a disclosure, Chinabank announced that its board of directors has approved a ₱1.50 regular cash dividend per share, a 25% increase from 2024’s ₱1.20 per share, along with a ₱1.00 special cash dividend, bringing the total to ₱2.50 per share. The payout will be distributed on May 22, 2025 to shareholders on record as of May 9, 2025.

The bank’s payout ratio stands at 27%, with a cash dividend yield of 2.8% based on Chinabank’s closing share price of ₱89.55 on April 23, 2025. This move continues the bank’s tradition of rewarding long-term investors while demonstrating confidence in its capital position and sustained profitability.

Chinabank reported a ₱24.8 billion net income in 2024, up 13% year-on-year, underpinned by robust core banking operations and prudent cost management. The higher dividend underscores the bank’s strong financial standing and efficient capital deployment.

In April 2024, Moody’s Investors Service reaffirmed Chinabank’s long-term issuer rating at “Baa2” with a Stable outlook, citing the bank’s solid capitalization, steady profitability, and sound asset quality.

Chinabank has also maintained its reputation for excellence in governance, receiving the Institute of Corporate Directors’ highest distinction—the Five-Golden Arrow Award—for three consecutive years.

With a nationwide footprint of 651 branches and 1,087 ATMs, including its thrift bank arm CBS, and diversified financial services via subsidiaries such as Chinabank Capital, Chinabank Securities, and Chinabank Insurance Brokers, Chinabank continues to be a reliable banking partner for retail, commercial, and corporate clients alike.
