China Bank launches online account opening mobile app

China Banking Corp. led by bankero William Whang has launched a mobile phone app, making it convenient, easy, and affordable for non-China Bank customers to open a new account.

China Bank chief digital officer Manuel Tagaza said that the China Bank START removes the barriers to account opening and encourage more Filipinos to start banking with China Bank and secure their financial future.

“Our aim is to make banking more inclusive and convenient with robust digital solutions. China Bank START enables Filipinos wherever they are in the world, particularly those who don’t have a China Bank account yet, to easily and securely open an account using a mobile phone,” the bankero said.

Anytime, anywhere—even if abroad, as long as there is internet connection—one can conveniently open a new account without having to visit a China Bank branch. It is so easy as all it takes is one valid ID and a selfie.

It is very affordable as there is no initial deposit required.

Filipinos 18 years old and above, without an existing China Bank account but with an active mobile number and e-mail address and a permanent Philippine address, can open a China Bank ATM Peso Savings Account or a China Bank Overseas Kababayan Savings Account (for OFWs and OFW beneficiaries) using the app.

Accounts opened via China Bank START can be used to transfer and receive funds, reload (mobile, game, or toll credits), pay bills, and more via China Bank Mobile App.

China Bank START is designed with the latest identity verification and security technologies. It is available for free download on the App Store and Play Store. For more information, visit www.chinabank.ph.

China Bank owned by the family of the late taipan Henry Sy currently 636 branches and 1,037 ATMs, including the 160 branches and 165 ATMs of China Bank Savings.
