Chinabank appoints Narlette Manacap-Jaravata as compliance chief

China Banking Corp. has appointed former Citibank executive Atty. Narlette D. Manacap-Jaravata as chief compliance and governance officer, effective July 16.

Jaravata, 50, will join the bank with the rank of senior vice president, bringing more than 20 years of experience in the banking and insurance industries. She previously served as chief country compliance officer, head of the country anti-money laundering team, and data protection officer at Citibank N.A. Philippines.

She will succeed Aileen Paulette S. De Jesus, whose request to shorten her post-retirement advisory contract to one month was approved by the bank to allow her to attend to personal matters.

De Jesus, who holds the rank of first vice president I and chief compliance officer, will now end her engagement on July 31 instead of Dec. 31.

The bank also disclosed other key executive management changes. Gabriel Q. Villaluz III, 58, was named division head of Corporate Banking Division 2 under the institutional banking segment with the rank of first vice president I, effective June 8.

A CFA charterholder with more than three decades of experience in finance, Villaluz previously held senior positions at Ayala Corp., ACEN Corp., ING Bank N.V. Manila, and BPI Capital Corp.

Meanwhile, Katherine N. Manguiat, regional head for Metro Manila East under the retail banking business segment, was promoted to first vice president I from vice president II, effective Aug. 16.
