BSP set to tap contractor for New Clark City operations hub

The Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP) is advancing its New Clark City hub project, with its architectural and engineering consultant, Aidea Inc., having completed detailed design documents.

This enables the central bank to proceed with the procurement of a general contractor for the facility, the BSP announced on Friday.

The finalized Detailed Architectural and Engineering Design (DAED) is a critical step in the BSP’s infrastructure development in Capas, Tarlac.

The project aligns with the central bank’s long-term objectives of operational resilience and disaster preparedness.

The New Clark City complex is envisioned as a strategic backup center to ensure business continuity during emergencies. It also supports broader government efforts to alleviate congestion in Metro Manila.

The conceptual design of the BSP’s Central Luzon development received international recognition in 2022, honored under the Institutional Architecture category at the Architecture MasterPrize, indicating its adherence to global standards.

Transportation Secretary Vince Dizon said that the northern section of the North-South Commuter Railway will be completed within the Marcos administration, significantly improving access to New Clark City.

Additionally, a separate railway line linking Clark International Airport to the BSP complex is under feasibility study, with a report expected by August. A corresponding loan agreement is targeted for finalization by end-2025.

To complement the BSP development, Bases Conversion and Development Authority (BCDA) President and CEO Joshua Bingcang disclosed a partnership with a South Korean firm to construct residential facilities near the future BSP complex. This aims to establish the area as a full-service, livable economic hub.
