BPI’s Legazpi Savings Bank promotes responsible borrowing, scam awareness in Region 1

Legazpi Savings Bank, a subsidiary of Ayala-led Bank of the Philippine Islands (BPI), held a financial literacy session for teaching and non-teaching personnel at the Department of Education’s Region I Office, focusing on responsible borrowing and fraud prevention.

The session covered scam awareness and practical financial management measures aimed at helping participants avoid online fraud and make informed borrowing decisions.

“Thank you to the Region I Office for the opportunity to be part of promoting a more financially aware and scam-resistant community,” the bank said in a social media post.

Founded in 1976 as Legazpi Savings and Loan Association Inc. in Legazpi City, the bank was acquired by JG Summit Holdings Inc. through Robinsons Bank Corp. in 2012.

It became a wholly owned subsidiary of BPI in January 2024 following the merger of BPI and Robinsons Bank. Legazpi Savings Bank is awaiting Securities and Exchange Commission approval for its planned merger with BPI Direct BanKo Inc.
