BPI Direct BanKo Inc. is ramping up its push into grassroots banking, expanding its loan portfolio and physical presence to reach underserved Filipinos.

The microfinance arm of the Bank of the Philippine Islands released P23.7 billion in loans to self-employed micro-entrepreneurs in 2025, positioning itself as a key financing partner for small livelihood businesses.

The bank said its lending activities are anchored on flagship products such as NegosyoKo Loan and PondoKo, complemented by its TODO Savings offering, designed to help micro-entrepreneurs sustain operations while building financial discipline.

BanKo’s client base has grown to over 1.4 million, served through 412 branches nationwide.

“By making financial services more accessible, we empower micro-entrepreneurs to grow their businesses sustainably and encourage more Filipinos to start their financial journey today.”

To sustain growth, the bank is investing in both physical and digital channels. It plans to expand its branch network, improve digital onboarding, and roll out more QR-enabled services to simplify transactions.

BanKo is strengthening community engagement through its BanKommunity Program, targeting organized sectors such as farmers, fisherfolk, transport groups, and market vendors with business training, savings accounts, and loan facilities.

The bank has also deployed BanKo On-The-Go roving units to deliver services in areas with limited banking infrastructure.

BanKo said its more than 3,000 employees nationwide, including loan officers and field personnel, remain central to its strategy, helping build long-term relationships with clients.
