The Bank of the Philippine Islands (BPI) and China Banking Corporation (China Bank) have announced measures to help their employees amidst the transport strike in Manila.
BPI will be providing free rides for its employees this week to continue providing services to its clients.
“This is not the first time that BPI has done so, as employees were also provided shuttle services during the pandemic to provide them with a safe and organized transportation system,” the bank said.
On the other hand, China Bank will be offering free shuttle bus rides along key Metro Manila routes for its employees, with plans to add more if needed.
Transport groups have called for a week-long strike in protest of the jeepney modernization program.
The Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) has also said it will provide free rides to help commuters during the strike.
Meanwhile, some educational institutions have opted for temporary online learning for students who may have difficulty going to school.
