Bank of the Philippine Islands (BPI) has unveiled its selection of 70 promising start-up enterprises for the 2023 Small Enterprise Acceleration Lab – Small Enterprise Growth Agenda (SEAL-SEGA) program.
In this year’s SEAL-SEGA program, BPI has meticulously chosen 20 micro enterprises and 50 nano enterprises, highlighting a collaborative effort between BPI, the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI), and Bayan Academy.
The central objective of the program is to empower these start-up enterprises, providing them with enhanced capabilities, networking opportunities, and improved access to financial solutions. It’s worth noting that BPI selected these 70 start-ups from a competitive pool of 300 applicants.
Following their selection, the 50 nano enterprises will embark on a mentoring program aimed at translating their business plans into actionable strategies. Simultaneously, the 20 microenterprises, which will also benefit from mentorship, will receive cash grants ranging from P80,000 to P120,000.
BPI underscores the specialized training and mentoring sessions that both micro and nano enterprises underwent to bolster their enterprise development. Nano enterprises received guidance in entrepreneurship management, skill development, financial wellness, mentorship, and market linkages through the newly-launched SEAL-SEGA for Nano Enterprises program. Topics such as opportunity identification, screening, and seizing were included in these tailored modules.
Micro enterprises with established market presence will receive advanced training and mentoring through SEAL-SEGA for Micro Enterprises.
Upon completing their training program, these selected start-ups will have the unique opportunity to present their business plans through a business pitch. The ultimate goal is to help them sustain or enhance their competitiveness within the current business landscape, according to BPI.
The top 20 micro enterprises chosen for BPI’s SEAL-SEGA program represent a diverse range of businesses, including Sean-Kris Food Products, Samore Coffee Shop, Edcom Food Product, Tri-Kings Auto Trading, Saltik-Egg Foodstuffs And Egg Product Manufacturing, Innergrow Hydroponic Farm, Lilykoi Food Products Manufacturing, Zyd Integ Fish Farm, Miguel’s Craft Sorbetes Ice Cream Production, and Wix Manila Personal and Home Care Products Trading, among others.
