BMAP elects 2024 board directors

The Bank Marketing Association of the Philippines (BMAP) disclosed its newly-elected board of directors and officers for 2024.

Mai Gacilo Sangalang, Standard Chartered’s head of corporate affairs, brand, and marketing, secured her position as president for the third consecutive term.

Other key officers are Eric Montelibano, CityState Savings Bank’s Integrated marketing communications consultant, as vice [resident; Judith Songlingco, Philippine Business Bank’s head of corporate affairs and brand marketing, as secretary; Emmanuel Mari Valdes, RCBC senior vice president and head of retail banking customer acquisition and retention division, as treasurer; and Janette Abad Santos, BPI Direct BanKo’s vice president and head of marketing division, as auditor.

Continuing their roles as directors are Miguel Angelo Villa-Real (Veterans Bank), overseeing industry relations, banking code, and financial inclusion; Edelyn Castro (Maybank), responsible for programs; Chairell Winston Almendras (BPI), managing membership; and Hannah Regina Lopez (BDO Unibank), overseeing ways and means.

Newly elected as director for publicity and digital marketing is Tin-tin Siapno (Union Bank of the Philippines). Maria Luz Javier, president and CEO of Avanza Inc. continues to serve as the election chair.

Founded in 1974 and approaching its 50th anniversary, BMAP is committed to advancing the field of bank marketing and communications in the country. With 26 member banks and associate members, the association collaborates closely with the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP) and other industry associations. BMAP’s initiatives include public education, industry collaboration, and recognition of outstanding campaigns through the biennial BMAP Bank Marketing Awards program.

Joint efforts between the BSP and BMAP focus on promoting financial education and inclusion among Filipinos, particularly through programs such as “Banking On Your Future,” “BSP Reaches Out (Project BRO),” and the “BSP Annual Financial Education Expo.” Information campaigns address cyber security, fraud prevention, and the secure use of electronic banking, reinforcing the commitment to protect and educate the general banking public.
