Buy-now-pay-later firm BillEase is expanding into household utilities after partnering with Aboitiz Power Corp. to let electricity customers defer or split payments through the MobileAP platform.
The integration allows customers of AboitizPower’s distribution utilities to pay bills using BillEase via QR Ph, either at zero interest until their next declared payday or through installments of up to six months. The companies said it is the first such arrangement among traditional electric utilities in the regions served.
The service is now available to customers of Visayan Electric, Davao Light, Cotabato Light, Subic EnerZone and Lima EnerZone, covering parts of the Visayas, Mindanao and Southern Luzon.
“Integrating BillEase into MobileAP reflects our commitment to empowering the evolution of our cities,” said Melody Lim, head of customer experience at AboitizPower.
“By offering accessible and flexible pay-later options, we are putting our customers first, enabling millions of households across Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao to better manage their day-to-day finances. This partnership represents a meaningful step forward in modernizing utility payments and advancing a more inclusive, digitally enabled payment ecosystem across the regions served by our distribution utilities.”
The deal is BillEast’s largest utility partnership to date and represents a strategic push to embed credit-based payments into essential services beyond Metro Manila.
“This partnership with MobileAP and BillEase demonstrates how digital financial services can democratize access to essential utilities beyond Metro Manila,” said Kurt Molina, head of POS product at BillEase. “We’re proud to enable millions of Filipino households to manage their electricity payments with greater flexibility and control.”
Under the agreement, there is no minimum bill amount and no service fees for QR Ph transactions. Customers can pay using their available BillEase credit, either in full or through installments of up to six months.
