BDO Foundation rehabilitates 3 rural health units in Camarines Sur

BDO Foundation, the corporate social responsibility arm of BDO Unibank Inc., under the stewardship of the Sy family, has turned over three recently-refurbished rural health units (RHUs) in Camarines Sur this month as part of its ongoing commitment to enhancing healthcare facilities nationwide.

The foundation said the RHUs, situated in the municipalities of Nabua, Gainza and Goa, are poised to serve a collective population of 177,000 individuals across 67 barangays.

These RHUs are primed to deliver essential primary and maternal health services, encompassing consultations, laboratory tests, dental care, immunizations, as well as pre- and post-natal care.

BDO Foundation said the renovation endeavors undertaken at Nabua RHU 1 Lying In Facility, Gainza RHU – Family Planning Center, and the Municipal Health Office of Goa centered on refurbishing and enhancing various areas such as facilities, administrative offices, clinics, consultation and treatment rooms, senior citizen waiting lounges and children’s play areas.

It said these improvements not only aim to elevate the quality of healthcare provision but also to create more conducive environments for both healthcare personnel and patients.

“We are delighted to commence the new year with initiatives directly impacting the health and welfare of communities in need,” said BDO Foundation President Mario A. Deriquito.

As of now, BDO Foundation has successfully rehabilitated a total of 163 RHUs since embarking on its mission to enhance healthcare facilities and accessibility across various communities in 2012.

Established in 2008, the foundation is dedicated to nation-building by addressing the needs of underserved sectors through disaster response efforts and financial inclusion initiatives.

With the support of the BDO community and in collaboration with local government units and non-governmental organizations, BDO Foundation continues to conduct relief operations, refurbish rural health units, construct educational facilities, implement financial literacy programs, and execute COVID-19 response initiatives nationwide.
