BDO Unibank is returning to the domestic debt market for the second time this year, seeking to raise at least P5 billion through a new sustainability bond offering.
The Sy family-controlled lender is pricing the 1.5-year fixed-rate notes at a coupon of 6.26% per annum, according to a company disclosure on Thursday.
The offer period runs from July 9 to July 21, ahead of a scheduled July 28 issuance and listing on the local exchange. Investors can participate with a minimum subscription of P500,000.
The transaction will be BDO’s sixth such issuance since January 2022, bringing its total ESG-labeled fundraising to P386.7 billion.
In January, the bank initially targeted P5 billion for its fifth offering before increasing the deal size to P100 billion after demand exceeded the issue by 20 times.
The Securities and Exchange Commission has cleared the transaction, confirming compliance with the ASEAN Sustainability Bond Standards and local regulatory requirements.
ING Bank N.V. Manila Branch is acting as sole arranger and sustainability coordinator, while BDO Capital & Investment Corp. serves as financial adviser.
The latest fundraising comes as BDO continues to expand its sustainable financing activities. The bank has been the country’s largest lender by assets for years and also leads the industry in loans, deposits, and trust assets under management.
