BDO builds on 2024 momentum with strong Q1 earnings

BDO Unibank Inc. of the Sy family started 2025 strong, reporting a 6.5% rise in net income from January to March.

The Sy-led bank saw a 6% rise in net interest income and a 26% surge in fee income. Gross customer loans also expanded by 12% to ₱3.3 trillion, driven by widespread demand.

BDO president and CEO Nestor Tan said this positive performance builds on the momentum of their record-breaking 2024.

He highlighted the bank’s strong franchise, healthy capital, and expanding network as key drivers. BDO’s capital position remains robust, with a CET1 ratio improving to 14.4%, and asset quality continued to improve, with the NPL ratio falling to 1.77%.
