BanKo, the microfinance subsidiary of BPI, has teamed up with Jollibee Group to provide low-interest loans to smallholder farmers within Jollibee Group Foundation’s (JGF) Farmer Entrepreneurship Program (FEP).
The FEP supports farmers through training, mentorships, and financial aid, connecting them to institutional markets, like Jollibee, to boost their income.
Gisela Tiongson, JGF President, stressed the importance of farmers accessing loan products to sustain and expand their farming businesses.
Meanwhile, BanKo’s Business Head of Financial Inclusion and Microfinance Solutions, Bankero Rod Mabiasen, highlighted the bank’s commitment to providing accessible and affordable banking to the agricultural sector, despite the perceived high risks associated with it.
This partnership aims to enhance agricultural financing and improve agricultural production.
