China Banking Corp. has appointed a former Citibank compliance chief to lead its governance and compliance unit, replacing a long-serving senior officer who is set to retire.
In a disclosure, China Banking Corp. said its board approved the appointment of Narlette Manacap-Jaravata as chief compliance and governance officer with the rank of SVP effective July 16.
She will succeed Aileen Paulette De Jesus, first vice president I and chief compliance and governance officer, who is scheduled to retire on June 30.
The Sy-led bank said De Jesus will remain with the company during a transition period. She will be engaged on a contractual basis from July 1 to Dec. 31 and will serve as adviser to the compliance group starting July 16.
Chinabank described Manacap-Jaravata as “a seasoned compliance and legal professional with more than 20 years of experience in the banking and insurance industries.”
Prior to joining Chinabank, she served as Citibank N.A. Philippines’ chief country compliance officer, head of the country anti-money laundering team, and data protection officer.
She also previously worked as legal counsel for Philippine AXA Life Insurance Corp. and as legal officer at Bank of the Philippine Islands. She holds Industrial Engineering and law degrees from the University of San Carlos.
The board also approved the appointment of Gabriel Villaluz III as division head of Corporate Banking Division 2 under the institutional banking segment, with the rank of first vice president I, effective June 8.
Villaluz has more than 30 years of experience in corporate finance, investment banking, portfolio and asset management, and business development. He previously held senior roles at Ayala Corp., ACEN Corp., ING Bank N.V. Manila, and BPI Capital Corp.
Meanwhile, Katherine Manguiat, region head for Metro Manila East under the retail banking segment, has been promoted to first vice president I from vice president II, effective Aug. 16.
