BDO Unibank, the country’s largest lender, has warned the public about fake videos circulating online that falsely depict the bank’s senior executives, including its chairman, Tessie Sy, amid rising digital scams targeting financial institutions.
In a statement posted on its official channels, the bank said the videos were misleading and did not represent the organization.
“We are aware of videos circulating online involving our senior leaders. Please be informed that these videos are fake and do not represent our organization,” BDO said.
The advisory comes as banks step up efforts to combat online fraud, including scams that use manipulated media, false endorsements, or misleading investment claims to lure victims.
BDO advised customers to verify information through official channels, check sources, cross-check with trusted news outlets, and be cautious of sensational content on social media.
“Be skeptical of sensational content. If it seems too shocking, it probably isn’t true,” the bank said.
