BDO Unibank, the Philippines’ largest lender by assets, is targeting younger, mobile-first consumers with a zero-deposit digital Basic Account
Customers can open the account in minutes via the BDO Pay app using a passport, with other government IDs approved within a day.
The launch reflects growing pressure on traditional banks from digital-only competitors and e-wallets.
Account holders can pay bills, transfer funds, make QR-based payments, and optionally use a physical BDO Pay card for ATM withdrawals.
The bank said the account is designed to support daily financial needs while offering the security of a long-established lender and access to its nationwide branch network.
