The Philippine economy likely accelerated to 5.3% in the fourth quarter of 2025, fueled by strong electronics exports, Moody’s Analytics said in a report released Monday.
This pace is faster than the 4% expansion recorded in the third quarter.
“Robust demand for electronics likely supported exports toward the end of the year, while extreme weather events weighed on economic activity by disrupting agriculture, infrastructure, and household consumption,” the report said.
Moody’s projects full-year GDP growth of 5.1%, below the government’s revised target of 5.5% to 6.5%, with output averaging 5% in the first three quarters.
The Philippine Statistics Authority will release official GDP figures on Thursday, with investors and policymakers watching closely after a year marked by climate shocks and tighter fiscal spending.
Economic managers had earlier warned of slower growth in 2025, citing weather-related disruptions and reduced government spending tied to flood control projects. They said reforms have since been introduced to prevent similar setbacks.
