Security Bank outperforms sustainability goal as funding push tops P99.4 billion

Security Bank ESG targets 2025

Security Bank Corp. said it has surpassed its 2025 sustainable finance target ahead of schedule with total disbursements reaching P99.4 billion as of October or 18% above its full-year goal.

The bank said the result reflects rising demand for green and social financing in the Philippines and strengthens its push to become a leading provider of climate and social impact capital.

Green financing made up the bulk of the total, reaching ₱69.9 billion. Security Bank said these funds helped add 1.37 gigawatts of renewable energy capacity from wind and solar projects, supported the development of four green-certified buildings designed to cut emissions and lower energy use, and financed the rehabilitation of eight kilometers of electric train rails in Metro Manila to improve safety and reliability.

The bank also ramped up activity on the social development front, deploying ₱29.5 billion to projects that improve access to essential services and broaden economic opportunities. These initiatives delivered clean water access to around 500,000 households, expanded logistics capacity by 1.5 million TEUs, funded 544 new hospital beds and clinic rooms, and supported over 400,000 jobs and livelihood opportunities, most of them benefiting women.

Security Bank said the results underscore its commitment to supporting the country’s transition to a low-carbon and more inclusive economy.

To sustain momentum, the bank has been strengthening its internal capabilities through training programs with the International Finance Corporation (IFC), the Department of Energy (DOE), and the Board of Investments (BOI). These sessions are equipping relationship managers and frontline teams with tools to identify, structure and evaluate emerging opportunities in green and social financing.
