BPI upgrades chatbot with real-time tracking

The Bank of the Philippine Islands (BPI) has rolled out an upgraded version of its artificial intelligence (AI)-powered digital assistant, BEA Chat, as part of its push to make banking services more responsive and accessible to customers.

“BEA Chat is more than just a chatbot. It represents our commitment to digitalization and customer obsession. It’s designed to make banking support faster, easier, and more human, even in a digital environment,” said Cathy Santamaria, BPI’s chief customer and marketing officer, in a statement.

The platform, available through the BPI website and Facebook page, uses conversational AI to provide real-time answers to banking inquiries. Clients can access self-service features, apply for products, register for promotions, or connect with live agents for more complex issues.

Santamaria said the tool is part of BPI’s continuing investments in digital solutions. “We are continuously investing in digital solutions that enhance the client experience. BEA Chat allows us to be present for our customers 24/7, whether they’re at home, at work, or even overseas,” she added.

The latest upgrade includes a real-time service request tracker, enabling users to check the status of their concerns without visiting a branch or calling customer service.

The service is open to both verified users, logged in through BPI Online, and guest users, giving even non-clients access to explore the bank’s offerings. For Filipinos abroad, including Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs), BEA Chat provides assistance on investment products, foreign exchange, and remittance services without the need for a local SIM card.
