IMF raises 2026 growth forecast for the Philippines

The International Monetary Fund (IMF) has once again signaled its confidence in the Philippine economy, revising upward its growth forecast for the country in 2026.

This optimistic outlook, detailed in the IMF’s latest World Economic Outlook (WEO) report, underscores the Philippines’ resilience amidst global headwinds and its ongoing commitment to key reforms.

The IMF now sees the Philippine economy expanding by 5.9 percent in 2026, a slight but significant increase from its previous projection of 5.8 percent. This upward revision reflects a continued positive assessment of the country’s economic fundamentals and its capacity for sustained growth.

For 2025, the IMF maintains its 5.5% growth forecast for the country. This aligns with the Philippine government’s own target range of 5.5 percent to 6.5 percent.
