BDO Unibank, the Sy family’s flagship lender, is revamping its leadership team with a focus on technology and operations, signaling a push to solidify its dominance in the Philippine banking sector.
Arnold Quismorio Bengco, formerly a top executive at Security Bank, will join BDO as Executive Vice President and Deputy Treasurer, effective February 17. Bengco brings extensive experience in financial markets and will play a key role in BDO’s financial management and strategic initiatives.
The bank also tapped Rufus Pinto, the former Philippines country head for ANZ, to lead its Enterprise Services Group. Starting March 3, Pinto will oversee BDO’s enterprise services and ensure its infrastructure can support future growth and customer-focused offerings.
In a move highlighting its commitment to technology, BDO appointed Paul John Siy as its new Chief Information Officer and head of the IT Group, effective February 3, pending regulatory approval. Siy will also join the IT Steering Committee, succeeding Frederic Mark S. Gomez, who will transition to a new role focused on enterprise-wide initiatives.
By bringing in seasoned executives, BDO aims to bolster its competitive edge and maintain its position as a leading force in Philippine banking.
