The Gotianun-led EastWest Bank is using two sets of PIN codes as an added layer of security for depositors.
In a Facebook post, the listed lender said a temporary PIN or TPIN is generated for identity verification when an account holder calls the customer service hotline. Meanwhile, the typical one-time PIN or OTP is sent via text message or email for authentication of transactions.
EastWest Bank said the TPIN will only be sent to the account holder during the call.
Bank clients are reminded not to share their OTPs with anyone to avoid the risk of providing unauthorized access to their accounts.
